Restoration in Hessen

Hessen lies in the middle of the Federal Republic of Germany and is rich in history: the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the Hessian contributions to the World Heritage List are expressions of this. The Messel Pit is the first of Germany's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In this outstanding fossil site the development of vertebrates can be traced in a unique way. The "Messeler Urpferdchen" became famous.

The South Hessian monastery of Lorsch belongs to the world cultural heritage of mankind - the Benedictine abbey is one of the most important examples of pre-Romanesque architecture. The Upper Middle Rhine Valley from Bingen to Koblenz is part of the world cultural heritage as is the Hessian section of the Upper German-Raetian Limes. Like the classic silent film "Metropolis", the hand copy of the Brothers Grimm's house tales is part of the World Heritage List.
